What is a Stansted airport transfer?
A Stansted airport transfer is a pre-booked car and driver between your front door and London Stansted (Essex, CM24 1QW). You give your postcode, flight number, passengers and bags when you book; the fare is worked out from the distance and fixed there and then, so there is no meter and no surprise at the end of the journey.

Is a transfer worth it for an early family flight?
Usually, yes, if there are three or more of you with luggage. Many Stansted departures leave early in the morning, and a pre-booked car means no dragging cases to a station before the first train, no parking to find and one fixed price for the whole family rather than a ticket each.

Which vehicle do I need for my family?

A return is priced as a return, which usually works out cheaper than two singles.
How does the journey work?
Going out, your driver arrives at the agreed time and you should be ready about ten minutes before. Coming home, your inbound flight is tracked, so you don't need to report a delay.
Coming home to Stansted
Once you have cleared baggage reclaim, call the number on your confirmation and your driver will meet you. Your confirmation says where: normally the arrivals hall with a name board, or a pick-up point the driver directs you to. Waiting beyond 60 minutes after landing may be chargeable by the provider, so call as soon as you have your bags.
Do I pay the Stansted drop-off charge in a transfer?
Cars using Express Set Down outside Departures pay an airport charge, and your booking confirmation states whether it is included in your fare. Stansted's rules are strict: the charge must be paid online or by phone by 23:59 the day after your visit, otherwise a £100 Parking Charge Notice is issued (reduced to £60 if paid within 14 days), and the maximum stay is 30 minutes.
If a friend is dropping you off instead, the Mid Stay car park has a free drop-off area with a free shuttle bus to the terminal – worth the extra few minutes. Short Stay car parks cost £13 for up to 30 minutes (Stansted Airport, checked September 2026).
Can I cancel or change my Stansted transfer?
Yes, within the rules. Bookings can be amended up to 24 hours before travel; a change of pick-up address may change the price and must be made through urbook, not with the driver. If you add Cancellation Cover at checkout, you can cancel online at /mybooking up to 24 hours before travel: 100% refund more than 5 days before, 50% between 24 hours and 5 days.

Is a Stansted transfer fare fixed?
Yes. The fare is worked out from the distance between Stansted and the postcode you give at booking and fixed at that point. It does not change with traffic.
Can I get a child seat in a Stansted transfer?
